Red Spots/Cherry Hemangiomas

Cherry Hemangioma

Cherry Hemangioma/Red Spot

Cherry hemangiomas, or “red spots”, are benign clusters of blood vessels that form a small red dome at the surface of the skin. They may be flat or raised, and their occurrence typically increases with age. By the time we are 30, almost everyone has at least one.

Our Nd:YAG (neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet; Nd:Y3Al5O12) laser dissolves the surface-level clusters of blood vessels that lead to the cherry domed appearance.  The Nd:YAG laser was specifically designed for surface vascular lesions, with its 1064 nm wavelength, and is ideal for treating cherry hemangioma’s/red spots.

Treatment Info:

Most cherry hemangiomas take one session to completely disappear and are virtually painless in most cases. Cooling of the skin is provided through our SmartCool skin cooling system.

For most people, the appearance of the red papule will completely disappear within a few weeks of treatment.  Initially, the red spot will turn brown until it dissipates and normal skin color returns. Multiple sessions are rarely required.
